Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
Faro is designed to run on your Mac without accounts, without tracking and without sending your data anywhere. This policy explains, in plain language, what information the app touches, what this website stores and what rights you have.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Faro (farosoft.dev), a project run by an independent developer based in Uruguay, owner of the app and of this website. For any privacy question, write to support@farosoft.dev.
The app: what it does on your Mac
Faro requires no account, contains no analytics or telemetry and shows no ads. Everything the app manages is stored only on your Mac, inside the app’s own data:
- Preferences, favorites, pinned apps, workspaces and app usage statistics.
- The daily tasks you schedule in the app.
- Clipboard history (Pro feature): stored on your Mac, never sent to any server, and content that password managers mark as concealed is skipped.
- Your Pro license key, which is verified locally with a cryptographic signature: the app never contacts a server to validate it.
Network connections made by the app
The app connects to the internet only in these cases, and in none of them sends personal data without you knowing:
- Update check: at most once a day it asks farosoft.dev whether a new version exists. The request carries no identifier or user data; as with any web request, the server temporarily records the IP address in its technical logs.
- Feedback: only when you press “Send feedback”. It sends the text you write, your name and email if you choose to provide them, and the app and macOS versions so we can help you.
- Crash reports: if the app quits unexpectedly, on the next launch it offers to send a report. It is sent only if you accept. It contains the technical crash log and the app and macOS versions; it does not contain your files, windows or clipboard content.
System permissions
Some features need macOS permissions. They are requested only when you enable the feature, with an explanation, and you can revoke them at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security:
- Accessibility: required so the window switcher (⌥Tab) can list and activate other apps’ windows.
- Screen Recording (optional): only to show live thumbnails in the switcher. Images are generated in memory and are neither stored nor transmitted.
- Automation (Finder): to show and empty the Trash from the panel.
- Notifications: for the optional CPU, memory, disk and battery alerts.
This website
farosoft.dev stores only what it needs to work:
- Purchases: payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as merchant of record and applies its own privacy policy. For each purchase we keep your email, your name if provided, the order identifier, the chosen plan and the issued license key, so we can deliver it, resend it and support you.
- First-party cookies: one technical session cookie, one with your chosen language and one that remembers your decision about analytics cookies (one year each). None of them identifies you or is shared.
- Analytics (only with your consent): if you accept the cookie notice, Google Analytics is loaded to learn how many people visit the site, from which approximate country and which pages they view. Google may set cookies (such as _ga) and process your IP address and browser data under its own privacy policy. If you decline or do not answer, nothing from Google is loaded. You can change your decision at any time via the “Cookies” link in the footer.
- Reviews: if you post a review we keep the name and text you write; reviews are published after manual moderation.
- Feedback form: the message and, if provided, your name and email, only to reply to you.
- Server logs: like any web server, the hosting provider records IP addresses and visited pages for technical and security purposes, for a limited time.
Who data is shared with
We do not sell or hand over data to third parties. The only providers involved are Lemon Squeezy (payment processing and invoicing), the hosting provider for the website and email, and Google (web analytics, only if you accept cookies). Apple receives no data from the app: installer notarization happens before distribution and involves no transmission from your Mac.
Retention
License records are kept for as long as Faro exists, so we can resend your key and support you. Feedback and crash reports are deleted once handled. Data the app stores on your Mac disappears when you uninstall it or delete its data.
Your rights
You can request access to, correction or deletion of the data we hold about you, and object to its processing, by writing to support@farosoft.dev. We reply within 30 days. If you live in the European Union you may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Children
Faro is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will publish the new version on this page with an updated date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
